WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Whoever you are, whatever age or situation/problem that you are facing, whether you are worried,
depressed, confused, feeling bad about yourself, or, wanting to make some changes in your life, talking in confidence to an
understanding person can help.
Counselling provides a confidential setting where you have the time to talk about any concerns that you
may have.
Counselling
aims to help you see a difficulty in a different way and find other options for tackling your problem more efficiently.
Counselling can provide you with
the space to talk through an issue that is very personal to you, without feeling judged or criticised.
WHY SEE A COUNSELLOR?
Sometimes
it can be hard to talk to someone close to you in case they worry too.
Sometimes the thing that you wish to
discuss is so personal that you might feel embarrassed talking to someone you know.
Sometimes no-one seems to understand
without telling you what to do.
We all have times when we feel unable to cope. Pressure can build up and we cannot see a way out of the confusion.
Talking to a skilled listener about personal difficulties may enable you to begin to feel, think and behave in surprisingly
different ways.
Most people find the process a very positive one, leading to the development of strategies that can be used throughout
life.
WHAT
THEY DO.
When you see a counsellor they will explain how they work, how many times they can see you and generally
get to know about you and the things that are challenging you. By listening and using their skills they may be able to support
you to look afresh at your problems. They support you through the exploration, they are trained to enable
you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings so that you are the one who is able to make your choices and decisions.
The work is generally short
term, usually 6 sessions. A session will last 50 minutes.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you feel that I may be able to help you.
